Tanya Hoover

Tanya Hoover is an experienced entrepreneur who excels at creating positive educational experiences for the international community in Indiana and beyond. Her company, Midwest Language Services, LLC  provides quality instruction in English as a Second Language (ESL) / English as a New Language (ENL). In addition, Tanya has also developed translation and interpretation services for businesses and other organizations wanting to expand their global reach to international clients located domestically and abroad. Tanya began teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) as a sole proprietor in 2004 and established Midwest Language Services, LLC in 2006. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Purdue University and has been teaching since 1993.

Lauren Li

English Language Instructor

Lauren is an English Language Instructor at Midwest Language Services, LLC.  She joined the company in 2012 and currently teaches online, private and group lessons. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian Studies from DePauw University in 2007, she went on to earn a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Certificate from IUPUI in 2008. Lauren started teaching English while living abroad in Japan, where she also founded an eikaiwa or English conversation class for her neighborhood community.  This experience inspired her to connect with people through a mutual exchange of language and culture. When she is not teaching ESL classes at our company, Lauren likes to volunteer her time helping the local refugee population by teaching lessons on English language and American culture.

Brittany Petree

English Language Instructor

Brittany is an Indiana native with a love for teaching English and showing hospitality to people who come to the U.S. from around the world. A trip to Kiev, Ukraine as a college student sparked her interest in becoming an English teacher. After graduating from Olivet Nazarene University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Corporate Communications and a minor in Spanish, she returned to the Indianapolis area where she began a job teaching ESL to international students from all over the world. In addition to teaching in the classroom, Brittany also taught private ESL lessons to a Southeast Asian refugee for four years.In 2014, Brittany earned a TEFL certificate and then headed off to China where she taught oral English courses to university students for a year. Upon her return from China, she has been focusing her time on completing her Master of Arts in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) through Azusa Pacific University and is enjoying teaching private ESL lessons for Midwest Language Services, LLC.

Melanie Sheets

English Language Instructor

Melanie received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English with a minor in speech and drama from Marian University. She continued at Indiana University to earn her Master of Science in Education. In addition, Melanie has given presentations about differentiating instruction at a local college and has also made a presentation about improving classroom practice for the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) annual convention in Chicago. Melanie began teaching for Midwest Language Services, LLC in 2013 and currently teaches online, private lessons, and group classes.

Amanda Lester

Translation Project Manager

Amanda joined Midwest Language Services, LLC in 2016 as a Translation Project Manager. She began studying the Japanese language at Center Grove High School in Greenwood, Indiana and her passion for the language inspired her to go on to receive a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies and East Asian Languages and Cultures from Indiana University in 2008. She specialized in Japanese language and culture. Amanda entered the translation industry through a happy twist of fate after moving to the east coast. She has been inspired to continue this career path upon moving back to the Greenwood area. When not managing projects, Amanda enjoys working as a Japanese translator and as an occasional interpreter.
